Roots and Branches
Roots and Branches is a multi-year project developing a network of family historians skilled in researching African-American ancestors in the South Carolina Lowcountry. It encourages those in the network to share that expertise with members of their civic, religious and social organizations. It welcomes inquiries from those researching their Lowcountry roots from afar.
Funding for establishing Roots and Branches were provided by the Humanities Council of SC, Carolina Lowcountry and Atlantic World Program of the College of Charleston and the Post and Courier Foundation. Workshop sessions were held in space generously donated by the Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Charleston.
Roots and Branches is a member of the Federation of Genealogical Societies.
